A digital art series created by artist/painter Matthew Barstow during the global quarantine of 2020. The artwork features seven versions of Barstow's interpretation of the Virgen de Guadalupe. Some seek to accomplish a serious undertone and meaning by the intentional use of color and the written word. While others are intentionally void of color and meant to be playful. The art is reminiscent of Barstow's Albuquerque upbringing in the 80's and 90's and draws from his experiences growing up in the Catholic Church and in an environment of Chicano Pride. The artwork makes use of symbols emblematic of Barstow's past as a reference in time and a reminder of past experiences.
